Hey gang. We are off and running with
another softball season. Hope all of you have had a good start. As you may
already have noticed, the Facts Sheet is coming to you in a more concise
format. In addition, it is our intention to send out Facts Sheets on the
following schedule: February 15, April 15, June 15, August 15, October 15
and December 15. The Facts Sheets will be sent to you electronically unless
you request a mailed version. In between the Fact Sheets, we ask that you
look to the Indiana ASA websites for updated information or contact the
appropriate Indiana ASA representative listed below for more information. A
few things to keep in mind as we approach the month of May:
ADULT (INDIANA) NATIONAL QUALIFIERS
– If you would like to host a national qualifier we have simplified the
process. Basically just let us know if you would like to host, dates,
and sanction the tournament. No assessment fees. I would like to see
our adult teams have as many opportunities to advance as
possible.
TEAM REGISTRATIONS
- Team registrations are beginning to roll in. Please let me know if
you need any help with the registration process. Remember Cindy handles
the JO team and individual registrations, the rest come to me.
APPRECIATIONS - Thanks to all for
making our March convention an excellent event. We got a lot of great comments
on having a one day event, earlier starting time for the banquet, and
especially for the wonderful tribute to Wayne by Mike Ropp. A lot of
work was done by Bob Waters, Ron Summers, Cindy Inman and Mick
Renneisen. I appreciate everybody making the event memorable. Next
year’s event will be in Bloomington. More to come on the details at a later
date.
Thanks to Steve Boone and Butch Lehman for
coordinating the Dudley Challenge. Adult teams have requested more events
for years. This event is growing. Please advise your teams to get
involved.
WEBSITES -
Currently Mick and I are working on possible changes and a consistent format
for our four web sites. We have looked at several models at this point.
Hopefully we can make them more user-friendly and informative. If you have
ideas for the web sites, let us know.
ASA REPRESENTATIVE ASSIGNMENTS -
Bob and Butch are finalizing the ASA rep list for this
summer’s tournaments. Please help them out if you can.
FIELD OWNER’S INSURANCE -
Commissioner Nolan has mailed all of the certificates of
insurance that he has received. If you applied for the insurance,
and have not received your certificates yet, give Mick or Dave a call.

play shall begin on Friday evening (7 or 7:30 p.m.) with local teams playing if

schedule games on two-hour intervals, so that scheduling is more realistic and
return no more than four teams and perhaps as few as one game, two if needed on
Sunday. This allows the host to deal with inclement weather.
The preferred
softball for Indiana ASA Men’s Fast Pitch is the Worth Dream Seam
Leather Optic Yellow softball with a cork core.
In order to make
the Men’s Fast Pitch Tournaments more appealing to Indiana ASA Umpires it was
proposed that Managers encourage their players to hustle on and off the field,
and take charge of and responsibility for their players conduct. In the past it
has been tough to contract umpires for these events.
State Tournament Play is right
around the calendar corner. Please refer to our web site:
www.indiana-asa.org for complete details.
UMPIRE REGISTRATIONS
- Please send your umpire registrations in as soon as you can. Holding on to
them leaves your umpires uninsured while they are working ASA games.
UMPIRE CONTRACTS
- All umpire contracts have been updated on the umpire web site
www.inasablue.org. Please send your contracts in now!
