2010 Men's Class D Fast Pitch State Tournament Flier

At the December 2009 and March 2010 meetings of the Indiana ASA Executive Board the “Fast Pitch Committee” was authorized to implement changes to the Fast Pitch game that were supported by the Fast Pitch Task Force (10/24/2009), the Fast Pitch Committee, and which were reasonable in supporting growth and sustaining play in the Men’s Fast Pitch game.  These changes are the first since Pitcher classifications were established in 1999.  These changes include:

  1. Anderson Lawmen, Anderson;

  2. D. C. Current, Bremen;

  3. Duncan Outlaws, Elkhart;

  4. Goshen Gators, Goshen

    1. A team whose pitchers have never pitched above the Class D level, or

    2. Whose pitchers have been re-classified to the Class D level.

                Furthermore, any position player who has competed above the Class D level who chooses to pitch at the Class D level, may pitch only and shall not be allowed to bat.

  3. Men’s Fast Pitch State Tournaments shall be drawn by protecting teams from the same regions / leagues, then seeded for best possible play.

  4. Sites without permanent or temporary fences installed between 245 – 260 feet shall not be considered to host a Men’s Fast Pitch State Tournaments.

  5. State Tournament play shall begin on Friday evening (7 or 7:30 p.m.) with local teams playing if possible the first round, then a second round at 9 or 9:30 p.m.  The goal is to schedule games on two-hour intervals, so that scheduling is more realistic and return no more than four teams and perhaps as few as one game, two if needed on Sunday.  This allows the host to deal with inclement weather.

  6. The preferred softball for Indiana ASA Men’s Fast Pitch is the Worth Dream Seam Leather Optic Yellow softball with a cork core.

  7. In order to make the Men’s Fast Pitch Tournaments more appealing to Indiana ASA Umpires it was proposed that Managers encourage their players to hustle on and off the field, and take charge of and responsibility for their players conduct.  In the past it has been tough to contract umpires for these events.
